Why A Home School Curriculum Swap?
We came up with a Home School Curriculum Swap to coincide with our mission here at GTH to support widows and single moms who home school. We have found that home school families led by a single Mom as the sole provider, doing her best to home school her children, usually must do so on a tight budget (meaning many of us cannot imagine how tight).
I don’t know about you, but we have several boxes of curriculum and books we used last year (or a few years ago) that are just sitting, collecting dust. I also have resources listed for sale on my blog. I figure that if I don’t need them, I might as well give them to someone who does. As part of our ministry at Gleaning the Harvest, we would like to give you the opportunity to give your books that are sitting around collecting dust to home school families in need. You give your extra books or other items, and the LORD will surely bless you for your generosity; sounds like a good swap to me!
We have been asked why we focus on widows here at GTH. There is a great need in the Body, and so much we can all do. There are many ministries out there, and as there are plenty of churches people attend, there are plenty of places for needs to be met. There are few places specific to home schooling and even fewer specific to widows, so this is our focus.
However, the Home School Curriculum Swap aspect of GTH will be open for all home schooling families in need.
Recipient Information
If you are a home school family in need, please email us at contact@gleaningtheharvest.com with your information and needs. Here is the information we will need:
Your name:
Family bio: home schooling for how long, how many children and ages.
Reason you are in need:
Your blog or website info:
Once you have sent this, we will contact you and work from there. Your needs will be met upon approval and verification of the info you send in.
Donation Information
Here are the guidelines for how we are running the Home School Curriculum Swap here at GTH:
If you have any older used or unused curriculum you would like to make available for donation to a home school family, we will need you to email us the information.You can also make any type of resources available, such as folders, paper, notebooks, pencils, pens, basically any schooling resource that one might use.
If you have other items you would like to submit, you are welcome to. We will need a description of the item also.
Please do these things before emailing us:
Post about it on your personal blog or website, titling it Gleaning the Harvest Resources.
Be honest and accurate in your description of your items.
Be sure to include your terms of shipping.
Link the post here in the comments.
I will then list it below with your link.
Your blog must be an open blog for the link to work for everyone to see it.
The families will then be able to go to your list and see if you have resources they will be able to use in their home school and can then contact you directly about what you can do for them.
If you do not have a blog, please email me and we will work it out.
It would be great if the family is needy that you are willing to pay the postage to mail the resources to the home school family, in the event that they are unable to. That will be best cleared up up-front. Please state your terms on your post and link back to this page so that others can also take part in this if they so desire.
I will work out the details as I run into them. I will be deleting and adding information as it becomes available or is taken. It would help this ministry greatly if you could keep in contact after an item has been donated to a single mom.

Please, above all things, do not forsake the Power of Prayer. Only God can meet our deepest spiritual needs. Only God knows what our true physical and financial needs are. Please commit to pray for these families as they endeavor to walk in the way, teaching their children in the LORD.
